In the border province of Banteay Meanchey, near the Thai–Cambodian border, a powerful story of faith continues to unfold—one that reminds us that the Church is not a building, but the people of God.
During the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, Chhai Ra and several families from her church were forced to flee their homes. They temporarily sought refuge at a church in Siem Reap Province, leaving behind everything familiar. When the conflict ended, Chhai Ra returned to Sisophon City in Banteay Meanchey, only to find that her church building had been destroyed. Faced with uncertainty, fear, and loss, she wondered how worship and ministry could continue without a place to gather.

But God had a plan.
Instead of rebuilding walls, the Lord led her to build faith. Chhai Ra began gathering children and families in a refugee camp, where the government had relocated members of her church community. There, among displaced families and limited resources, worship was reborn.
Week after week, she began leading children’s follow-up programs, teaching them about God’s love, praying with them, and helping them grow in faith. What seemed like an impossible situation became a powerful testimony of God’s presence and faithfulness.
“The true church is not a building—it is the people.”

Through it all, Chhai Ra has witnessed God working in incredible ways. Despite hardship, she remains joyful, encouraged, and committed to serving God’s Kingdom wherever He places her.
Today, more than 2,000 families live in the refugee camp where she continues her weekly ministry. Children are learning about Jesus, discovering hope, and experiencing the love of God—many for the very first time.
Her story is a living testimony of God’s promise:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
A Prayer Request
Please join us in prayer for Chhai Ra and the children she serves. Pray that God continues to strengthen her, open doors for ministry, and reach even more children with His love and truth.
Because even in the hardest places, God is faithful—and His Church is alive.
