Our Interview with Jake Giesbrecht.
At Children’s Camps International, every handcrafted wooden combine tells a story — not only of craftsmanship, but of purpose, faith, and a heart willing to serve. Behind each piece is an
artist whose passion for woodworking has become a meaningful way to support children
hearing about the love of Jesus around the world.
We recently had the opportunity to connect with Jake Giesbrecht and his wife, our newest volunteers, who help build our craft combines for CCI/Harvest for Kids.
1. Where did your passion for woodworking start?
I have been dabbling with woodworking since the early 2000s. I took a break from it for about 8
years because I didn't have a shop. We built a shop in our yard in 2018, and that's when the love
of woodworking went to a new level. I was introduced to wood turning shortly after building
my shop, and that has been an amazing experience. I always prefer to work with recycled
wood, which brings a new challenge each time. I have found this hobby to be a great stress
reliever. It also causes me to exercise my brain as I tackle new challenges. I see God's hand at
work each time I put the finishing oil on a project, and my hope is that I will never lose the awe
that comes from seeing His creation come to life in a new way.
2. How did you first connect with Children’s Camps International/Harvest for Kids?
I was contacted by George Klassen. (Harvest for Kids Volunteer Manitoba Representative)

3. What inspired you to get involved with building these craft combines?
A tenant at my workplace had been involved with making the wooden combines some years
ago. He had coffee with George Klassen and discovered that they were looking for someone to
build the combines for CCI. Knowing that I enjoyed woodworking, he told George he would see
if I might be interested in helping out, and the rest is history!
4. Roughly how long would it take to make 1 combine on average?
If I make 100 at a time, it would be roughly 1.5 - 2 hours per combine. I don't think. I want to
know the exact time...it's probably more time than I think it is!
5. Is there any message or encouragement you would like to share with those
reading this interview?
Find something you enjoy doing and do it whole-hearted. If you can help and or bless someone
in the process, it's a double win!

6. For anyone who would like to connect with you, how can they reach you or find
out more about your other woodworking creations?
I don't have a huge social media presence, but I am on Facebook. I can also be contacted by
phone, text, or WhatsApp. 204-361-5733.
Through every handcrafted combine, we are reminded that God can use our talents, passions, and
everyday skills to make an eternal impact. What began as a love for woodworking has now become
part of a much greater story — one that is helping children experience hope, joy, and the love of Jesus through camp ministry. Thanks Jake for your generosity heart and dedication to contribute to send more children to Bible Camps.
