Children’s Camps International started in the beautiful Red River Valley of Canada, famous for its rich, fertile soil and deep agricultural roots. Thanks to the incredible generosity of farmers, land-owners, and suppliers from both Canada and the United States, we’ve been able to create and sustain the fundraising initiative we call, 'Harvest For Kids'. For over twenty years, our work with these farmers has been key to supporting our mission.
This flagship fundraising initiative of Children's Camps International is inspired by a well-known biblical metaphor. Jesus compared saving souls to harvesting crops, and we think it’s a perfect fit for what we’re doing.
"...Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest." ~Jesus (John 4:35 ESV)
Harvest For Kids has made quite a splash, setting four Guinness World Records in Canada. The most exciting was in 2018 when we harvested 250 acres in just 5 minutes with 303 combines. It’s a great example of how big and impactful our Grow Projects can be.
So, what exactly does Harvest For Kids do? It’s pretty straightforward: we grow food to raise money for our mission. Generous land owners, suppliers and farmers donate their time and resources to us. The crop is then harvested to feed the world while the profits of the harvested crop are donated to support Children's Camps International.
Since 2006, this initiative has brought together hundreds of farmers and volunteers to pull off dozens of Harvest for Kids crops. Some of these are huge, record-breaking events with thousands of spectators, while others are smaller, community-focused gatherings.
In 2024, we’re excited to be hosting three major Grow Projects. We’ll be in Manitoba; Saskatchewan; and Alberta. These events promise to be an opportunity to reach tens of thousands of additional children with the good news of Jesus! Learn more about the 2024 Harvest for Kids events on our EVENTS PAGE.
