EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dave Thiessen
Contact Dave
Dave has spent more than 30 years in leadership roles, starting in the corporate world and, for the past 18 years, working in the charity sector. In 2016, he joined Children’s Camps International as the National Director for Harvest for Kids. Since then, he has taken on a number of roles to help share the Gospel of Jesus Christ both here at home and in other parts of the world. One of Dave’s greatest joys is seeing people in North America discover the purpose God has given them and begin to live it out with passion. He also treasures the moments when children in developing countries come to know Jesus as their personal Saviour and join together in worship. Outside of his work with CCI, Dave enjoys being in God’s creation and loves spending time outdoors. He has been married to his wife Jan for more than 40 years, and together they’ve raised two amazing kids. These days, Dave especially enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and being a part of their lives as they grow.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Nelli Neumann
Contact Nelli
Nelli has been serving in administrative roles since 2008 and brings a wealth of experience and heart to her work. She spent nine years supporting new immigrants as they integrated into the community, a role that deepened her passion for helping others feel welcomed and cared for. Today, she plays a vital role at Children's Camps International, managing the Winkler office and assisting with donation processing and event coordination. Outside of the office, Nelli enjoys reading, staying connected with her church, and spending time with her large extended family. She is a proud aunt to 15 nieces and nephews, whom she loves to spoil, and is always ready to lend a helping hand wherever she is needed. In early 2018, Nelli felt God prompting her to take a step back and wait on His direction. She took a six-month break from work, trusting that He was leading her into something new, even though she didn’t know what that would be. In June of that year, she joined Children's Camps International for the World Record Harvest fundraiser and has remained with the organization ever since. She has continued to use her administrative gifts to support CCI’s mission. On her very first day with the team, she experienced complete healing from carpal tunnel syndrome, which confirmed to her that she was exactly where God wanted her to be. Nelli is deeply committed to her faith and values being part of a ministry that sees God move in powerful and personal ways. She looks forward to all He has in store for CCI and continues to trust Him for wisdom and provision for the team and donors alike.

H4K REPRESENTATIVE
Rob Garland
Contact Rob
Rob is the Children’s Camps International, Harvest For Kids, Co-ordinator. He lives near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on a farm with his wife Andrea, a teacher at a local Christian School, with their 2 teenage children, who also are involved in ministry during the summer, at Dallas Valley Ranch Camp near Lumsden, SK. Rob became involved with H4K first as a customer and salesperson. God created an opportunity for Rob to obey and use his gifting for Harvest for Kids through a friend who was familiar with H4K. It took a couple of years for God to prepare his heart and the hearts of his family. They had some attacks from Satan and learned to rely more on God. As their family healed, they became better at discerning, recognizing when they were being attacked and used prayer to fight back. They became aware of how to recognize God’s prompts and also to accept how God was preparing them for the good of the kingdom. Rob grew up on a dairy farm and has been involved in agriculture his whole life. He came to faith at 30 years of age and has been serving Jesus ever since. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, School of Agriculture program. That opened doors for him to work in research for public and private industry, including contra season work in Chile and Argentina. He then had opportunities to work in agriculture retail, taking transfers and promotions across Western Canada, offering even more learning opportunities. Finally, the family settled down on a farm at Moose Jaw. With Harvest for Kids, he is responsible for promoting and co-ordinating crop input sales and help manage our Grow Projects. Grow Projects are fields whose proceeds contribute to funding our kids programs in developing countries. The best part is the harvest, when the community joins together for something wonderful, with many combines and people to share a meal and celebrate. He helps build teams around these fields and procuring donated inputs with suppliers, as much as possible, to allow even more funds to be funnelled to our camps. He is also a key contact who interacts and negotiates with the suppliers and products we represent. This includes PhycoTerra microalgae products, AlgaEnergy, Trinity Bio Chem, grain bags and hail insurance. He also prayerfully considers other potential products we can add to our offering, as long as the partners and products are also supportive of our overall mission. He has negotiated other unique offerings with like minded organizations. Currently, any H4K products promoted by Eston College and Prairie Hockey Academy at Briercrest College with their farmer supporters results in a 50/50 split of the profits, to reduce any financial barrier to place more disciples in these schools. We also partner with one of our fields where half the proceeds benefit inner city programs in Saskatoon. Rob exhibits at many farm shows across Western Canada and North Dakota and attends farm meetings and even travels to farm events in other provinces to promote Harvest for Kids and Children’s Camps International. His favourite topic is telling the story of the Harvest for Kids 2018 Guinness Book of World Record Harvest in Winkler, Manitoba where 303 combines all worked together at the same time to harvest a field (video is on our website). Come visit if you are interested to learn more. A list of upcoming events is on our website. Rob and his family have travelled to our camps in India and Brazil. It is important to see these camps and understand the cultures in order to direct our programs properly. One highlight was Rob’s daughter being baptised in the Purus River in the middle of the Amazon rainforest by our country leader Marco. They were visiting indigenous communities who are interested in the CCI children’s programming. In India, the birthplace of CCI, they experienced the power of God in the camps, and also witnessed the darkness from the worship of false Gods. Rob is interested in a future trip to Cambodia where we hope to help the community around our camps, to generate income through orchards and greenhouses, to support those camps in country. Consider joining us on one of these trips. We would be thrilled to introduce you to the foreign ministries. Rob also does church speaking to promote CCI/H4K. He also enjoys farmer breakfasts and missions groups where he can share what he has witnessed. Please contact Rob anytime to have him present our ministry, that he describes as “the most impactful ministry you’ve never heard of!” His favourite topics are the agricultural parables. Please consider reading the passages below. Rob’s life is driven by the Great Commission and that is why he works for CCI. Luke 10:2-“He appointed 72 to go from town to town. The harvest is great but the workers are few, Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” He goes on to say that it won’t be easy. He also spoke with great urgency and that there was a shortness of time. Before Rob and his family travelled to India, they had heard that the Apostle Thomas was martyred in Chennai, the city that started and ended their trip in. Thomas was faithful to this calling. Scholars say he likely got on one of the Roman trading vessels. According to early documents, the Romans had been sending around 120 ships a year to south India to trade for items that they wanted such as spices. They had been doing this for years before Jesus was born. Thomas worked from west to east. Where he evangelized there have been Christians for 2000 years continually and still has 38% Christian in those areas. The overall number in India is 2%. John 4:32 Jesus said “I have food to eat that you don’t know about. My food is to do the will of He who sent me and to accomplish his work. Do you not say there are yet four months then comes harvest? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes and see that the fields are white (ready) for harvest. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and getting fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true “one sows, and one reaps” I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored and you have entered into their labor-Jesus could see that there was a ripened harvest that urgently needed gathering (evangelizing)-Jesus knew there were hearts ready for salvation. He called his disciples (and us) to do evangelism with the promise of the reward (wages) the fruit that brings eternal joy and partnership of shared privilege. Jesus veiled the truth from unbelievers with parables. Again, he used farming analogies in his teaching. Parable of the Sower Matthew 13: 1-9 “Some seeds fell on the path where the birds ate them, some on rocky ground where they grew immediately but died when the sun came up because the soil was thin, and the roots did not establish so withered away. Others fell among thorns (weeds) and were choked out. Yet others fell on good soil, produced grain, some 100-fold, some 60 and some 30.” Explained-the seed on the path are people who will not believe the gospel (hardened, other religions), the seed on rocky ground are people who have had an emotional response to hearing the gospel, but it was very superficial. They remain interested in Christianity until it becomes uncomfortable or there is a price to pay, or some sacrifice they would have to make, then abandon it (go back to worldly pleasures). These people are sometimes referred to being an inch deep and a mile wide in their faith. The seed in the weeds hear the word but the cares of the world and deceitfulness of riches (another verse reminds us that it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man can get to Heaven, and another says that the path through the gate to Heaven is very narrow.) They make a superficial commitment without true repentance-they can’t break with the love of money and the world. The seed on good soil represents believers. Of the 3 types of good soil, some will be more fruitful than others. Parable of Weeds Matthew 24:30 The Kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a man who planted good seed in his field, but his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat (scholars think Persian Darnel because it was indistinguishable from wheat until the head matured-in our case it could also be wild oats or Japanese brome). Doing this was a way for enemies to destroy your livelihood. Once discovered, the farmer said not to destroy the weeds in the growing crop as it would also destroy some of the wheat, but to wait until harvest and they would bind the weeds and burn them and harvest the wheat separately. This is like Satan trying to deceive the church by mingling his children with God’s, sometimes making it impossible to distinguish. The wheat are believers, the harvesters are Angels to gather breakers of sin and law breakers. He alone can give the power in the heart to transform. He is the one who saves. We can’t save ourselves.

George Klassen
Contact George
George grew up on a small farm in southern Manitoba as one of eight siblings in a Christian family. Farm life and chores were a regular part of his childhood, but they were rarely a burden. After graduation, he began working at his local co-op and quickly found joy in connecting with people through his role. Over the next several decades, George moved into management and eventually worked for the co-op for a total of 47 years. Throughout that time, he remained active in both his church and his community, and in 2017, he was recognized as Winkler’s Citizen of the Year. After retiring in 2017, George began volunteering with Children’s Camps International. He helped lead the Guinness World Record harvest event with 303 combines harvesting in one field, and now continues to serve as the Harvest for Kids Coordinator for Manitoba.
